Friends of the Library Appreciate All the Help

The semi-annual book sale held the day after Thanksgiving went on without a hitch. The Friends of the Lopez Island Library work tirelessly throughout the year to put on the November and July book sales. This year they had "world class" help from community volunteers so the set up and clean up was notably easier. The "Friends" want to thank all who helped the day of the sale and those who bought the red library bags to cart out lots of books. And of course to everyone who brings in books for the sale. The library thanks the Friends and the community too!

ABOUT THE FRIENDS

Friends of the Library Logo

The purpose of the Friends of the Lopez Island Library is to provide support to the Library's facility and staff, as well as to promote library awareness.

The Friends host the very popular used book sales, held July 4th and the Friday after Thanksgiving. Other events include the sale of used books at the ferry landing and in the library, concerts, and writer's reading events. Inside the Library one may purchase items benefiting the Friends, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, note cards, book totes and mugs.

The Friends work hard to raise money for events, programs, and special equipment purchases that benefit the library and its patrons.

BECOME A FREIND

What does becoming a "friend" mean? Simply stated, it means that you will receive about one or two mailings a year, mostly to let you know about the book sales and also to let you know what the friends are doing to support library efforts.

Beyond that, it is strictly up to the individual patron. Some feel very strongly about supporting our unique library by sending in a small donation and others find that volunteering their time is a good way to keep their fingers on the pulse of the community.

Coming into the library and using our many services is yet another way to show support.

Volunteers Needed

The twice-yearly book sales simply can't happen without a robust volunteer effort. If you have free time in your life, and especially if you're new to Lopez, please consider finding a niche for yourself with the Friends. All levels of participation are appreciated. Email: friends@lopezlibrary.org
