Issued library cards have a wallet-sized card plus a convenient mini-card which can clipped to your keychain. |
Borrowing MaterialsLibrary Card ApplicationsYou will need a current library card to borrow materials from the Lopez Island Library, reserve items from our library, or to borrow from the Inter-Library Loan system. Applications are available at the circulation desk, and you will be able to borrow materials on the same day you apply for your card. Who Qualifies for Free Library Card?You can get a free library card if you are a resident, rent or own property within San Juan County, work on Lopez - or if you're the spouse or underage dependent of someone who does. Applicants under 17 must have applications co-signed by a parent or guardian. Proof of residency is required. If you are not listed as owner of a property in the San Juan County Assessor's database, then a utility bill in your name, pay stub or driver's license can be used. Additional OptionsIf you don't qualify for the free card, the following options are available:
Replacement and Renewal of Library CardsYou should bring your library card whenever you visit the library. If your card is lost or stolen, please report it to a library staff member immediately. A block will be placed against your file so that no one else can use your card. If your card is lost, replacement of the card is $3.00. |
Borrowing CollectionThe library offers 7,212 non-fiction titles, 5,770 fiction, 950 audio books, 1,950 DVD movies, and 490 music CD titles. The is in addition to what is offered in the Juvenile and Young Adult section of the library. Borrowing LimitsBooks, Periodicals, MusicBooks, audio books, magazines, and music CDs are due in 28 days. There are no borrowing limits, unless you have items overdue. You can renew these items often as you wish, providing another patron has not placed a hold on your item. DVD's, VideosAll DVD movies, whether fiction or non-fiction, are due in three days. Video movies are also due in three days. You can borrow up to four of these items at once. You may also renew these items as often as you wish, but if another patron has placed a hold on any item, you will not be able to renew. |
